How did langston hughes contribute to the civil rights movement?

Read some of his poems. They talk about the inequality between Blacks and Whites. He put into creative writing the suffering among the Black people. Yes, they were free from slavery but they weren't really free to be who they were. Hughes broke through and was able to express his feelings and the ludicrousness of the plight of the Black people.
